Drummer Boy

Christopher has started playing with the student band at LifePoint Church.
I had the joy of being able to mix for him on his first night to play - definite proud parent moment!!
I decided to get a couple of cameras and record his first time playing.

I recorded the board mix from both the middle school and high school worship services that night and Crutch synced them up and edited a few clips for us.
It's not very good quality, we didn't have time to get proper lighting and the shot from the booth is pretty low quality, so I will probably try to get the HD cameras in the future and get some better footage of him and the other band members.

I'm very grateful we are part of a church that is so focused on our students!!
Thanks to David McCaman, Chris Hollomon , Scott Mills and the rest of the LifePoint Student Ministry team for all the work you do!

Here are 2 of the songs they did that night.

Good Guys Car Show '09

Headed down to LP Field (Home of the Titan's) on Saturday for the 2009 show.

Christopher, Dale, Don Mitchell and I just about "spontaneously combusted"
from the heat(107 heat index) but enjoyed the show none the less.

Here's a few pics and a link to a whole bunch more.
Enjoy!

TFAA 8th Grade Washington DC trip

Had a great time with Christopher's class on the trip to DC. I'm finally starting to get the feeling back in my legs from all the walking! We packed in a lot in our 3 days in the city.

Day 1 - Our first stop was Monticello - Thomas Jefferson's home. It was beautiful there and he had some very creative and original things on site to see.

Next was Mt. Vernon - George Washington's home. Nice view overlooking the river and there was a massive Pecan tree next to the house. I could have parked on that back porch for hours.

Day 2 took us to the National Mall and all the Memorials: WWII, Lincoln, Vietnam, Korea, Marine Corp(Iwo Jima), as well as the Holocaust Museum and the National Archives. We also got to tour a small portion of the Capitol and (to the excitement of some of our group) got a quick word from TN Rep. Bart Gordon(yippee).

Day 3 we went to Arlington National Cemetery. This was very humbling when you think of the sacrifice represented by all those grave markers. Truly an experience I won't forget. I did not realize the cemetery property was actually Robert E. Lee's property.

4 of our TFAA 8th graders had the honor of laying the wreath at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The changing of the guard was another moment to remember. The level of commitment the Guards must go through is unbelievable.

After the Cemetery we road the subway (a first for me) to The Smithsonian Museums. My group went to the Air and Space museum for a while , then the Natural Science Museum. I think it would take a full week just to see all the things in The Smithsonian, but it would be worth every minute.

After the Smithsonian, we had pizza at a Chicago style pizzeria called Armand's, then boarded the bus for the 12 hour ride home. I think I slept about 3 hours total.

All in all , the trip was perfect. The weather was great and the kids behaved well and seemed to have a really good time. Click the link below for pics.

Mustang 45th Anniversary Show

Christopher, Dale, Gary Henderson and myself went to the Mustang 45th Anniversary in Birmingham, Alabama last weekend and there was an unbelievable amount of cool rides there. Always been a big fan of the Mustang and this show "gave me the fever" (sorry Dee Anne!). They also had racing, drifting and an open track event which was neat to listen too and watch.
I tended to look more at the newer (79-up) cars this trip since Christopher will be driving soon and he has the fever almost as bad as me! Look out Smyrna!
Here are just a few pics of the hundreds of cars there. Enjoy!

LifePoint Church

Well, it's finally officially. fbcsmyrna is now dba LifePoint Church.
I believe we will look back years from now and see this day as a major turning point in the life of our church. As Pat said during the message "we are about pointing people to a Christ centered life".
Can't wait to hear reaction from the folks at LP.
